April 22 is Earth Day and we’ve rounded up a few of our most sustainable items to get the party started. We are mindful of our footprint and finding ways to show our gratitude for this beautiful, struggling planet.
At Red Barn Mercantile we have been bringing in a variety of sustainable products in pretty much every department. From recipes and Bee’s Wrap to recycled wool blankets and eco-friendly stuffed animals, there are so many ways to go a bit easier on the planet and none of it comes at the expense of appearance.
Our Iris Hantverk collection of kitchen and bath brushes is a great place to start if you’re looking to replace some of your household essentials. Iris Hantverk's mission of sustainable design shines through its entire collection, crafted with the finest natural and ethically sourced materials using time-honored methods.
The Green Lunchbox, $19.99; Bee’s Wrap, $19; Big Bunny, $82; Compostable Sponges, $7.50; Dish Brushes, $30, $12); Recycled Wool Waterproof Picnic Blanket, $165; Bubbles, $5; Specimen Collecting Kit, $30; Ladybug Crayons, $14; Weather Station, $60.
While beefing up our garden collection, we came across a specimen collecting kit which is a perfect tool for celebrating nature and preserving memories from outdoor adventures.
Bubbles might not immediately come to mind when you think of saving the planet, but we are so thrilled to have found Bubble Tree. These non-toxic bubbles come in high quality aluminum bottles that can be refilled, reused, and recycled. Game changer! (And we have the no-mess refill station as well.)
We also love these non-toxic ladybug crayons which are made of 100% handmade soy and beeswax. They’re darling and they’re packaged in a reusable/recyclable tube.
Since Earth Day lands in the middle of April showers, we also have to highlight this very cool weather station, perfect for budding meteorologists or weather enthusiasts. It’s made of solid beech wood from sustainably certified forests and accented with non-toxic paint, and it’s definitely one of our favorite toys in the shop right now.
Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post are both consciously incorporating earth-friendly items to our shelves all the time, and we hope you love them as much as we do. Now go grab a picnic blanket and some snacks and stare at this beautiful planet we are so lucky to have landed on.
